───Frank Lloyd Wright and Oya Stone
Among the available Japanese stones, Oya stone was selected by Frank Lloyd Wright for the design of the Imperial Hotel. It is also extensively used in the Jiyu Gakuen Myonichikan building.
The museum provides information about Oya stone, explains how Wright incorporated it into his designs, and highlights the differences in its use between the Imperial Hotel and Myonichikan.
Actual samples are also on display.
Barrier-Free Accessibility
Characterized by Wright's technique of varying the space with different steps, the structure of the Myonichikan has many staircases. For barrier-free accessibility during building tours, please see the following page for details.
*This does not apply to use of the facilities, so please consult with the person in charge.
