Official Events

Myonichikan holds a variety of events throughout the year. Cherry blossom viewing events to experience the changing seasons, summer parent-child events. Myonichikan Restaurant provides a place where you can enjoy a casual lunch in the dining room where students once gathered. Enjoy the building as the seasons change.

  • Late March - Early April Cherry Blossom Viewing & Evening Cherry Blossom Viewin

When the garden's four cherry trees (Someiyoshino and Oshima-zakura), each over 70 years old, are in full bloom, you can enjoy the fusion of Japanese (the cherry blossoms) and Western (the building). Visitors can view the cherry blossoms from different angles of the building and find their own favourite angle.
At night, the building will be lit up and drinks will be available to help you get a little tipsy from watching the cherry blossoms. Dates and times will be announced in early March.

  • Late July - Early August Summer Parent-Child Event

Myonichikan was built as a schoolhouse and was filled with the voices of children. The museum aims to be an important cultural asset accessible to both children and adults.
For one day during the summer holidays, mainly primary school children and their parents can learn and enjoy together. We will prepare such a time. We are also happy to help with free research.

  • Last Week of Oct. - First Week of Nov. Tokyo Cultural Assets Week

Cultural Heritage Week is organised by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government 'to make cultural heritage more accessible to more people'.
As a heritage site that is always open to the public, Myonichikan will participate in this event. For this reason, rooms will be rented out more sparingly so that visitors can enjoy the building more during the week.

  • First day on the third Friday of Nov. Fireplace with Special Mention by Wrigh

Scheduled to be lit for night tours in December, January and February.

The fireplace was a valuable heating system when it was a school. Fire is strictly forbidden in important wooden heritage sites, but only the fireplace can be lit.
People naturally gather around the fire and socialise. This is a rare opportunity to experience the peaceful place that Wright intended.

  • The Third Friday of February COEDO Beer and fireplace

COEDO beer, whose birthplace is Kawagoe, is served during the night tour in February.
This is a night that attracts not only light architecture but also many COEDO fans. The snacks are excellent and specially paired with COEDO beer! The fireplace will be lit for the last opportunity this winter.

  • 4 times a year, seasonally Myonichikan Restaurant
